DAZI USA - Sponsored Promotion Introduction: Dazi is a company that sells mostly floral neck ties. The product is a male dominated accessory however... the pattern of the ties, the sale, the online shopping aspect, being on Instagram and close to the Holidays, I would say that this is targeted at girlfriends, wives, and moms doing their Christmas shopping. They use the seascape principles of presentation and least resistance . It's a pretty post, and has a Shop Now button.  Typography Instagram images often don't need type because of the caption aspect. Dazi chose to add type here to increase visibility of the word SALE. It's definitely a strong tactic around the holidays when people are spending money like breathing air and need to find a way to save a buck. Dazi chose a sans serif, all caps, hand written font. I actually don't like it. If you peruse Dazi's website, they are a very straight lined, clean brand. I wish they had stuck to that branding and

Dicks Sporting Goods - Instagram Video REP

Introduction: Summary: The video shows kids getting a ping pong table for Christmas--it shows the kids growing up and playing progressively better--it shows the kids as adults gathered with their family on Christmas, battling it out on the ping pong table.        Audience: Story time! I started following Dick's earlier this year when they made the move to stop selling assault rifles and raised it's minimum age for gun sales to 21. As a person in favor of gun control, this impressed me and despite not being an avid sports connoisseur, they gained my following! I would say that the typical shopper at Dick's is men, as men have a slight monopoly over sports. However, pro-gun-control demographics say that mostly women are in favor. So Dick's may have slightly shifted their demographics when they made this decision. We should also remember that Instagram users are mainly young adults. SO - young adults, split by gender. And for this specific video, I would say fa

RE News Feed Post

NBC News - Instagram This was posted by NBC News on Instagram on Saturday in response to a mass shooting. The audience is Instagram users--hopefully all. Youth are more interested in national news than ever before and adults, living on their own and part of a community, should also be aware of the events happening in their world. NBC is connecting to the audience by using several seascape principles. Some of these include: The Value Principle: The value of a news account is information. Unbiased and timely reports of important events. This post fulfills the audiences needs by providing what is expected. The Attention Principle: By using Instagram, NBC is providing it's audience an opportunity to express opinions. A news outlet especially is a hotspot for opinions and arguments.  The Presentation Principle: There were many photos taken of this event. NBC chose to share one that was provoking while also being modest. It accurately depicts the danger of the moment, while al

It draws the audience eye to the post.  Repetition: This photo uses repetition in repeating shapes. It unifies the image and makes it a coherent whole. It also creates a type of grid which appeals to designers who constantly work with grids. Alignment/ Proximity:

Personal Manifesto

I'm Rebekah! It's spelled weird, right? It's biblical. My parent's named me. Don't most parents do that? It's a pretty bold move, naming your kid after a person from the Bible. Kinda puts a lot of pressure on them. I love irony. I grew up a pretty happy kid. And then came high school. I had self esteem issues (what teenager doesn't). When I was 14 I went on trek, and a 16-year-old boy held my hand! Regardless of the fact that I didn't even know his name, and despite my dirty pioneer clothes, I felt pretty. Are you hearing the warning bells? Yeah, they weren't even bells. They were freakin' sirens. But he was Mormon! And he played rugby and ran cross country and was so cute and all my friends at school had boyfriends. One night he texted telling me he was outside my house. I stole outside with fantasies of a dreamy sweet first kiss. What I didn't expect were his hands forcing themselves down my pants and up my shirt. I tried to act cool

Who is the audience of the post? Designers, women, book lovers. How does the post connect with the audience? By making a seasonal and emotional connection--Fall! And by producing visually appealing images. What value does the post provide to their audience? I'm part of the audience. I love following this account. The value for me is mainly inspiration . But close behind that is motivation - motivation to create work beautiful enough to be featured on the page. Plus, networking ! Connecting with fellow book designing women..  How does the post's design connect and communicate with the audience? In this case it's all about the channel . Because this post is featured on Instagram, there's not a lot of room for design. But the benefit of Instagram design is that it makes conn

Social Campaign Analysis

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer Instagram Campaign Analysis https://www.instagram.com/p/BoH6NUzh1FT/?taken-by=blacktapnyc Social Media Campaign:  A planned and coordinated marketing effort to reinforce an idea or business goal.  Brand and Objectives The brand, in this case a business, is a restaurant  in New York City called Black Tap Craft Burgers and Beers. As a consumer I feel like I understand the objectives of this campaign best because it's effectively working on me! I follow this account because OH MY GOSH LOOK AT THE FOOD! They also have these shakes... I'll post another picture to as I can't adequately  describe in words the FOOD PORN this place produces. --> I'm assuming their objective or business goal, is to grow their client base. And to do this, they are using social media to increase awareness of their product (FOOD) and gain a following. The idea is that by producing great photography of their unique, larger-than-life menu opt
