DAZI USA - Sponsored Promotion

Introduction: Dazi is a company that sells mostly floral neck ties. The product is a male dominated accessory however... the pattern of the ties, the sale, the online shopping aspect, being on Instagram and close to the Holidays, I would say that this is targeted at girlfriends, wives, and moms doing their Christmas shopping. They use the seascape principles of presentation and least resistance. It's a pretty post, and has a Shop Now button.

Typography
Instagram images often don't need type because of the caption aspect. Dazi chose to add type here to increase visibility of the word SALE. It's definitely a strong tactic around the holidays when people are spending money like breathing air and need to find a way to save a buck. Dazi chose a sans serif, all caps, hand written font. I actually don't like it. If you peruse Dazi's website, they are a very straight lined, clean brand. I wish they had stuck to that branding and just used Helvetica.

Repetition
Another obvious design element used here is repetition. Repetition of shape, alignment, and pattern on top and bottom. There's even a slight repetitive pattern in color... blue, white red, blue, white with a red button. Repetition here creates a uniform look, which appeals to the buyer of neck ties, who want a clean, and stylish suit ensemble. It also creates the illusion that the pattern of ties might go on and on... making the buyer want to see more, with the thought, what else? It also makes for a cohesive and orderly looking post.

Composition/ Lines

I wasn't sure which element this design concept fell under, but I love the way the photo draws the audiences eye down. The ties are composed as arrows. They create a line that pulls the reader to the photo headline, then down to the bottom of the ties which stop unfinished... making you feel unfinished and wanting to read more... RIGHT AT THE SHOP NOW BUTTON. I mean, the ties could have been pointing left or right, or been on a person, but instead they lead you right to a shop button. Smart Dazi.

I love Dazi. I love their over-the-top tie patterns paired with their minimal branding and website. I think overall this post was designed well and pushed the agenda to BUY. I just hate that font...
